a large glowing golden christmas tree at st pancras international

If you were travelling through St Pancras International station this morning, you no doubt noticed a cheery sight awaiting you on the station’s ground floor. That’s because the annual St Pancras International Christmas tree is now standing mightily on the station’s ground floorand glowing cheerily over travellers and visitors. And it’s not just a gloriously festive sight – it’s also raising money for a good cause.

The tree is one of London’s most iconic festive sights – alongside our city’s dazzling Christmas lights. And every year, there’s a whole new theme that takes over the display, suffusing the station with holiday cheer. This year, the tree is a stunning golden delight that is “Powered by Dreams”. The station has partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity on a glimmering display that “celebrates the hopes and imaginations of children being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital”. The tree helps raise funds to support the charity’s work in supporting and changing the lives of seriously ill children.

The St Pancras International Christmas tree

The 12-metre-tall tree is inspired by classic music boxes – except instead of a graceful ballerina, it’s a rather tall tree rotating in place. Although there is a large ballerina perched at the top of the tree! At its base, you’ll find musical booths, with enchanting windows that show the journey that wishes take. There’s even an interactive clockwork winder, allowing you to take part in the tree’s magic.

All over the tree, you’ll find hand-painted baubles made by the children from Great Ormond Street Hospital. The rest of the decorations draw from the boundless creativity of children. The tree is adorned with the likes of gymnasts, astronauts, pilots, and more, celebrating “the extraordinary potential within every child.”

Built into the tree, passers-by will also find a digital donation point. This allows visitors to contribute to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. Inspired by the dreams, wishes, and hopes found on the tree? You can help change the lives of the children they work with.
