The week began with a forensic science workshop where pupils investigated a hypothetical crime by analysing the results of commonly used forensic techniques.

The boys were unusually delighted to find a ‘crime scene’ in their science lab on Monday!

Our Junior House pupils were treated to some exciting science demonstrations featuring colour changing compounds and fizzy rockets!

They were also given their very own eureka moment when learning about the density of different materials.

VR plunged the boys into immersive learning (Image: St Anthony’s School for Boys)

St Anthony’s has recently been using lots of virtual reality (VR) to provide pupils with immersive, interactive learning spaces and Science Week was no exception.

VR workshops plunged the boys into the world of astronomy, deep sea diving, and even anatomy.

The pièce de résistance of Science Week though was the planetarium that was set up in the Junior House lunch hall!

This amazing piece of equipment allowed the boys to escape school and go on a trip through our solar system to learn about our neighbours in the Milky Way Galaxy.

National Science Week was yet another success for the school’s co-curricular programme and has surely inspired the next generation of scientists from St Anthony’s!
