Insomniac Games may be planning new story-based DLC for PS5 Spiderman 2, but what do we know about the release, story, villains, and even possible Daredevil connections?
Spiderman 2 was released in October exclusively for PS5 following the original game released in 2018 and Miles Morales spin-off in 2020.
While the latter skipped the DLC, the former released three packs bundled into “The City That Never Sleeps” that included Black Cat, Hammerhead, and Silver Sable.
What DLC has Spider-Man 2 released?
Spiderman 2The latest update, and its biggest post-launch release, arrived on Thursday, March 7, with new costumes, upgrades, and some much-anticipated features.
The update was headlined by the long-awaited arrival of New Game+, which allows players to replay the game or certain missions on harder difficulties and carry over any of their Unlocked costumes or abilities.
The update also included alternate styles for Peter’s symbiote story suits and the ability to change the color of symbiote abilities.
In addition to this, Insomniac provided new costumes for both Peter and Miles, this time with Marvel’s Hellfire Gala costumes inspired by Marvel Comics.
This included several bug fixes, photo mode updates, and the ability to change the time after completing the story. This DLC content came first Spiderman 2 after its October release.
When is the next DLC for Spider-Man 2 coming out?

Look back Marvel’s Spider-Manstory DLC arrived in three chapters The city that never sleepsthey are “The Heist”, “Turf Wars” and “Silver Lining”.
Episodes were released monthly in late October, November, and December 2018 after the game was originally released on PS4 in early September.
As such, it has been over four months Spiderman 2 was released, the wait for the new story DLC has been much longer than last time. This comes after that Miles Morales the spin-off was dropped entirely in the post-launch story as Insomniac continued to focus on development Spiderman 2.
Although Insomniac has yet to officially announce new story plans Spiderman 2a major leak from December 2023 that resulted in millions of files appearing online confirmed that three DLC releases are in development.
Now that New Game+ has finally arrived Spiderman 2the focus should soon shift towards story-based DLC, which will likely end up as paid content.
The studio may well leave a reasonable gap between significant content drops to maintain interest Spiderman 2 alive longer. Thus, the earliest release date for the first DLC would likely be late April or later.
Once the first DLC arrives, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the remaining packs arrive on a monthly basis – well into 2018 Spiderman – but they could also be scattered.
Possible DLC story for Spider-Man 2

Leaked DLC plans Spiderman 2 allegedly revealed the titles “Beetle Invasion”, “Extreme Carnage” and “Spider-Verse Anomaly”. It should be noted that this information has not been confirmed, and plans may have been changed or completely scrapped since the data breach occurred in late 2023.
The leaked title apparently confirmed the latest update with a slip that gave players access to the developers’ command menu. As part of this, players were able to see a list of currently inaccessible levels that featured Beetle starring convoy and hostage missions culminating in boss battles – via IGN.
After the main story Spiderman 2, Peter Parker appears to be taking a break from his heroic duties, leaving it to Miles Morales. As such, the three DLC packs should shift to the younger and less experienced web-slinger after his mentor took most of the spotlight in the game’s original story.
The first DLC title refers to the introduction of B-level Spider-Man villain Beetle, aka Abner Jenkins. The mercenary and thief is known for wearing a high-tech battle suit with various weapons and gadgets.
Next up is “Extreme Carnage,” which isn’t a surprise since Cletus Cassidy, better known as Carnage in Marvel, was teased in “The Flame” side quest line. The missions ended with the cult leader escaping with the red symbiote and teasing his plans “that truth, judgment, and carnage:”
“And as the Crimson Hour rolls across this land, it will bring truth, judgment and carnage.”
Because Insomniac probably isn’t going to make another symbiote-centric game Spiderman 3it makes sense to only use Carnage in a DLC add-on.
“Spider-Verse Anomaly” has many fans anticipating a crossover with the popular Sony Pictures animated series that was teased in the original game.
After collecting a series of Multiversal Spider-Bot collectibles, the player encountered a portal to a futuristic bar where they were told, “If Miguel comes looking for these, tell him the finders-guards.” clearly refers to Spider-Man 2099.
Maybe the DLC could find a link to the Insomniac Peter Parker cameo Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verserevealing his recruitment into the Spider Society and his work with them while potentially spawning some exciting cameos.
Will Daredevil Appear in Spider-Man 2 DLC?

Although the only superheroes that feature Spiderman 2 were Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Yuri Watanabe (aka the Wraith), there were clear hints of more world saviors in this Marvel universe.
This included the presence of both Avengers Tower and the Baxter Building, as well as a trip to the Sanctum Sanctorum where Black Cat opened a very Doctor Strange-esque portal and Spider-Man received a letter from Wong.
At startup Spiderman 2, the Nelson & Murdock law firm sign that Daredevil himself owns was missing. In an interview with IGN, director Bryan Intihar urged fans to be curious “stay tuned.”
As Milkan27 pointed out on Reddit, the Nelson & Murdock mark has now been reinstated, perhaps suggesting that this may have been a mistake or mistake.
via IGN, Spiderman 2 players have discovered a mysterious room in New York, hidden behind a garage door with a strange red symbol above it. Using camera tricks, fans have found swords, shields, weapons, strange symbols and bookshelves hidden inside.
Players have been able to get a closer look by walking to the opposite side of the building and entering the bookstore, where the room can be seen through a bookcase containing other metal animal skulls and strange paintings.
The cult-like setting has led many to speculate that this could be tied to the Hand, an ancient ninja organization closely tied to Daredevil.
So far, Insomniac has avoided featuring other major Marvel superheroes in it Spiderman in the universe, so it’s hard to imagine that changing now. While many would no doubt be thrilled to see Daredevil join Peter and Miles in one of the upcoming expansions, it seems unlikely at this point.
Spiderman 2 is now available for PS5.
