With just five ingredients and 15 minutes of prep and cooking time, it’s easy to whip up. This delicious side dish serves four and can be paired with a fresh green salad or baked beans, plus any leftover cold cuts or sausage.
Brussels sprouts bubble and sizzle recipe
Ingredients
- 300 g leftover sprouts (and/or other leftover vegetables)
- 750g leftover mashed potatoes or fried potatoes
- 25 g butter (or two tablespoons olive oil)
- Four tablespoons of milk or cream (optional)
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Mash the sprouts (or other leftover vegetables) with the potatoes, add milk, salt and pepper to taste before forming the mixture into patties.
- Dust a plate with plain flour, then lightly coat each steak.
- Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat so that it covers the bottom. Then fry the steaks for about five minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- If you are making a larger batch or want to prepare them in advance, keep the cooked steaks warm on a tray in a low oven and continue to fry the rest, explains Expressen.
