Sarum Hall School employees will take part in a half marathon walk across London on March 14, in support of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

The charity supports babies, children, and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Carly Burrows, a higher level teaching assistant at Sarum Hall School, said: “The idea began when myself, Mr Laws and Miss Furlong were discussing how we could best support our school charity.

“I walked Yr Wyddfa with a bootcamp group last summer and we’d already talked about how great it would be to take on a walk together. Turning it into a charity event felt like the perfect way to do it.

“Once the pupils chose Noah’s Ark as our school charity, we felt even more strongly about making it our mission to raise both awareness and funds, given the vital and unique support the charity provides to children and families.

“When we shared the idea with the rest of the staff, the response was overwhelming. The majority of the team are taking part, and those who can’t join us have been incredibly supportive with encouragement and sponsorship.”

The 13.1-mile route will begin at Big Ben and finish at the school in Hampstead.

The walk is part of this year’s wider fundraising efforts for Noah’s Ark, Sarum Hall’s charity of the year, selected through a pupil vote. Fundraising activities organised by the school community have already surpassed a £10,000 target set for the first term.

Faye Armitage, community engagement officer at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, said: “It was such a joy to visit Sarum Hall and see first-hand the compassion and enthusiasm of the pupils.

“They were genuinely engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and showed a real understanding of what it means to support children and families in their own community.

“To see them not only choose Noah’s Ark as their Charity of the Year, but then throw themselves so wholeheartedly into fundraising, has been incredibly moving. They should be so proud of the difference they have made.”
