Like the Kentish Town original, the new restaurant and bar is set to ooze “warm nostalgic Italian spirit”.

Owner Luca Meola will open the new venture in May – moving into the spot vacated by The Giggling Squid in Muswell Hill Road.

It will include a terrace for sunny days and a private dining space to hire for special occasions.

Luca’s family opened their first restaurant in Italy back in 1960 and when his father moved to the UK in 1978 he opened a trattoria where his young son learned the art of being a restaurateur and discovered his talent for cooking.

Luca founded his first Highgate Road restaurant in 2012 at the tender age of 19.

It serves hearty family recipes such as handmade pasta and selling chosen produce in their deli.

As well as pasta and pizzas they serve salads, Italian desserts and mains such as veal Milanese and Bistecca di Manzo.

Posting on Instagram Luca wrote: “We’ve been quietly working away on our second Rossella home, and we can’t wait to show you! 🤩

“Opening May 2026 in Muswell Hill, our new Rossella restaurant will bring a cosy dine-in area, a private dining space for special occasions, an artisanal bar and a beautiful outdoor terrace for sunny days. It will be warm, nostalgic and full of the same Italian spirit you know and love.”

The news was greeted with excitement by locals with one posting: “We live opposite! Progress is already looking great and we can’t wait for it to open.”

While another wrote: “Congratulations! Have always wondered when you’d expand – the world needs more Rossella.”

And a third said: “Very excited to see this! Am sure it’ll be every bit as wonderful as Rossella no 1 !!!”

Rossella opens in May at 107 Muswell Hill Rd, N10.
