The Romanian business community in Italy met, in Milan, with representatives of the Romanian economic environment, in an event organized by the ROUNIT Association within the European Tour “Romanians Revive. Romania Grows.”. Central theme: how the diaspora can move from the traditional role of financial supporter of families in the country to the status of investor and strategic partner in the development of the Romanian economy.

The meeting brought to the same table entrepreneurs, investors and leaders of the Romanian professional communities in Italy, interested in identifying concrete ways by which the experience gained in the Western economic environment can be capitalized in projects in Romania.

From remittances to investments

The discussions focused on the creation of functional cooperation mechanisms: facilitating transnational investments, connecting Romanian entrepreneurs from the diaspora with opportunities in the country and developing a business networking platform through the ROUNIT Business Exchange.

right to the president of the ROUNIT association, Eugen Terteleacthe objective is a pragmatic one:

„Romanian diaspora has demonstrated financial capacity, expertise and strong international networks. The next step is to turn these resources into a organized investment and development tool for Romania. We’re not talking about emotion, we’re talking about economic strategy.”

The organizers claim that the goal is to build a global Romanian economic network, capable of supporting the modernization of key sectors and encouraging, in the medium term, including the return of Romanian specialists to the country.

An important moment of the meeting was the expansion of the ROUNIT network in Milan by joining six new membersa sign that interest in an organized structure of economic collaboration is growing.

The host of the meeting was Romulus Popescu, ROUNIT Ambassadorwhose involvement contributed to the mobilization of the local entrepreneurial community.

European tour with a clear economic objective

The meeting in Milan is part of a series of events organized in major European centers, through which ROUNIT tries to strengthen the connection between Romanians in the diaspora and the economic environment in Romania. ROUNIT European Tour “Romanians Return. Romania Grows.” is made with the support of partners and sponsors: MobU, Exim Banca Românească, Banca Transilvania, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of RomaniaIPM, RETTER, ADF, Kulterra, Transgaz, Hidroelectrica, Romanian Gazette and The Romanian newspapertogether with institutional partners and Romanian entrepreneurial communities in Europe.

Through this approach, the organizers aim to transform the diaspora from a passive economic actor into an active participant in shaping Romania’s development directions, in an increasingly competitive European context.
