Regent Street is set to go completely car-free for the first time in five years this Decembertransforming one of London’s favorite shopping destinations into a festive wonderland for a day of stress-free holiday shopping and celebrations.

Regent Street’s car-free Christmas

On December 6, Regent Street will close to all traffic between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circuswelcoming shoppers and families to enjoy the ‘Festive Mile’ without worrying about buses, taxis, or bikes. This marks the first pedestrianised event for Regent Street since the pandemic, making it an extra special occasion for locals and visitors alike.

From 2pm to 9pm, visitors can expect a lively program of entertainment. Three vintage London buses will be stationed along Regent Street, each offering a different Christmas treat. One bus is dedicated to selfie enthusiasts, promising elevated seasonal snapshots. The Choose Love Disco Bus will keep the holiday spirit high with live choirs and DJ music, while another bus hosts wreath-making workshops and provides free gift-wrapping for your purchases.

Roving performers such as stilt walkers, jesters, festive butlers, and Hamleys elves add a magical atmosphere for all ages. Shoppers can warm up with booze-free festive refreshments, including hot chocolate and non-alcoholic mulled wine, available throughout the day.

Special offers and charity initiatives

Many Regent Street shops, including Marc Jacobs, Ziggy Green, and Neomwill feature exclusive offers for the event. The Choose Love shop returns with its pop-up charity store, raising funds for refugees and offering gifts that make a difference in people’s lives. Shoppers can purchase essential supplies and Choose Love merchandise, supporting a good cause while getting into the festive spirit.

Whether you’re looking for unique Christmas gifts, want to enjoy live entertainment with friends, or just love the idea of strolling through a traffic-free London landmark, this one-day event is not to be missed.
