Ramadan 2024 is almost here and Muslims and astronomers are eagerly waiting to see the crescent moon that will determine the exact start date of the holy month. There are three possible dates it could start on, that is March 10th, 11th or 12th depending on whether the moon is sighted and verified in the UK time zone.
This can be done within the UK or its nearest Islamic neighbour, Morocco. Saudi Arabia has set the date as March 11 based on predictions, although Dr Zahid Nawaz, spokesman for lunar sightings and a former adviser to the British Science Association, said the moon must be seen in real life rather than predicting a definitive start date in the UK.
has compiled all the prayer times at some of the biggest mosques in London at the start of the holy month and listed the five daily prayers on March 10, 11 and 12. They are slightly different at each mosque because they are based on the position of the sun at each location.
