Polygon Road and Purchese Street open spaces in Somers Town have been upgraded as part of Camden Council’s central Somers Town masterplan.

The upgrades are designed to create greener, safer, and more welcoming environments, with improved paths, seating, and improved play and exercise facilities.

Polygon Road Open Space now features upgraded lighting, new play facilities, additional planting, and refurbished gym equipment.

At Purchese Street, improvements include upgraded paths, seating, landscaping, a new dog exercise area, and a space to play basketball and other ball games.

The work was funded through Camden’s Green Space Investment Programme and the Local Community Infrastructure Levy.

Cllr Adam Harrison, cabinet member for planning and a sustainable Camden, said: “I’m delighted that these improvement works, which are an important part of our wider Central Somers Town Masterplan – our commitment to providing excellent green spaces and improving the quality of public life across the ward – have been completed.

“In Camden, 39% of our residents have no access to a shared or private garden. So we know how it important it is to make sure people have green, inviting and accessible parks and gardens to visit in their neighbourhoods.”
