Fresh from huge gigs in Brazil and Chile, the pop legends play the Electric Ballroom from April 6-10 to mark the 40th anniversary of their 1986 debut album Please.

Located in Camden High Street, the venue is around the corner from where the band first started – and the five sold out shows, entitled Pet Shop Boys Obscure, will feature B-sides and non single album tracks from across four decades.

The duo say the 1,500-capacity gigs are a chance to go deeper into their catalogue and give fan favourites a chance to be heard live.

Posting on Instagram last November the band said in contrast to the ongoing Greatest Hits live tour Dreamworld, the gigs “will see PSB perform a set-list featuring only non single album tracks and B-sides from across their acclaimed career with many songs being played live for the first time”.

They followed the post with another announcing that the gigs had sold out: “All “Obscure” shows are now sold out. Thanks to the many PSB fans who have pre-ordered “Volume” and to all who bought tickets for this very limited run of shows. We look forward to seeing you in April. Neil & Chris xx”

The Pet Shop Boys were formed by music journalist and singer Neil Tennant and keyboard player Chris Lowe in the early 1980s.

They used a basement studio in Murray Street, Camden Town to write and record their first songs – borrowing the studio for free in exchange for a share of publishing rights.

The famous tunes they recorded there include what would become their first number one single West End Girls, It’s a Sin, and Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money).

They have since released 15 studio albums and notched up 22 top 10 hits.

Since opening in 1938 as The Buffalo Club, the Electric Ballroom has served as a nightclub, Irish ballroom, market, roller disco and now a music venue that has hosted everyone from U2 to Sir Paul McCartney.

Pet Shop Boys Obscure runs at Electric Ballroom in Camden High Street from April 6 to 10, 2026, with the April 8 show a fundraiser for the charity War Child.
