A pensioner has died after being hit by a heavy goods vehicle. The crash happened on Kilburn High Road at about 11.30am on Thursday, March 19.
The emergency services arrived, but the man, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 61-year-old driver stopped and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is still in custody.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on Kilburn High Road. At around 11.30am on Thursday, March 19, police were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a heavy plant vehicle and a pedestrian on Kilburn High Road.
“Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. Sadly, the pedestrian, a 70-year-old man, died at the scene.
“The driver, a 61-year-old, man stopped at the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken into police custody, where he remains.
“Police are now appealing to the public for any information about the collision, including dashcam footage of the collision. If you have any information, please call 02085974874, quoting CAD 2908/19MAR26.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (Thursday, March 19) at 11.29am to reports of a road traffic collision in Kilburn High Road, Kilburn. We sent resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance.
“We treated a man but sadly, despite our best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
