A parish councillor for North Cerney Parish Council has received a Councillor of the Year award.

Cllr Jonathan Dryland, who was elected in 2024, was presented with the title at the National Association of Local Councils’ Star Council Awards on Tuesday.

The award was given to Cllr Dryland in honour of his ‘outstanding leadership, dedication, and transformative impact on the community of Woodmancote’.

He was praised for his positive influence on civic life through the introduction of initiatives such as frequent litter picks and a village WhatsApp group, as well as his role in leading the refurbishment of the village’s community facility.

NALC Chair, Cllr Iain Hamilton, commented: ‘Congratulations to all the winners of the Star Council Awards. Your commitment to local governance and to the people you serve is both evident and inspiring.

‘Through inclusive leadership, forward-thinking initiatives and tireless dedication, you have delivered tangible, lasting benefits for your communities. You exemplify the very best of local government: accountable, innovative and rooted in service.’
