Having an insight into your child’s education is important to know that they are on the right track. It can be difficult, however, when the only source of information comes from the children themselves.
Blaise High School is ensuring parents get the information they need to be able to feel in control of their child’s learning, while also being reassured that the school is providing the education their child needs to succeed.
Believing that there is no ceiling on the potential of its children, the school is unapologetically aspirational for all of its students.
It believes that where students are educated in an environment characterised by high expectations, rigour and warmth, all children can flourish – something that its core values also represent: aspiration, integrity and pride.
This ethos and the fact that the school is a proud member of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, a ‘family’ of like-minded schools that collaborate to provide mutual support, share their good practice and learn from each other, whilst retaining and developing their own distinctive character, means that parents can be reassured from the very start that their child will get the support and education which will enable them to climb their own personal mountain to some of the very best universities in the country.
In the last academic year, 78 School in Action tours took place, seeing parents and prospective parents taken around the school during the working day to give a clearer view of what school life at Blaise High School is like.
In June of this year, Blaise High School launched its new parent app, My Child At School (MCAS) so that parents have a better sight of their child’s time at the school. Allowing for easier communication and reach of information, it allows for absence reporting, sight of key information such as timetables and attendance, and communication of school alerts.
This joins the Class Charts app which parents can already use to find out more about their child’s education. The app allows the school to easily share information about children during the school day, such as their class performance, the need for support sessions or missed homework.
Not only that, parents can rest assured that it isn’t only their child’s academic skills which are being nurtured at Blaise High School, but also their character and values.
Blaise High School’s Character Education offer allows students to develop their existing artistic, creative, performance, sporting, debating, challenge, team and individual interests and to experience new ones.
Whether students are playing sports, taking part in expeditions, researching historical events, volunteering, performing in the school play or learning how to work as part of a team, all students develop the skills needed to take their place in the adult world and to build their cultural capital.
