Overwatch 2 developers have explained why Quick Play was replaced with Quick Play: Hacked rather than running the new mode in Experimental Mode.
A few weeks ago, the developers presented to the players d’Overwatch 2 Quick Game: Hacked or Faster Game – basically a timed mode where everything gets faster, from respawn time, capture point, payload progress and many more.
But there is a catch. Instead of releasing it in a separate game mode, Quicker Play replaces the original Quick Play mode.
After this, it didn’t take too long for the majority of players to explode because they couldn’t play Quick Play like they would on a regular basis.
Some players even went as far as calling it a “joke”, considering how frustrating it was to play with drastic changes.
Of course, the decision to replace Quick Play with this mode has the developers asking the inevitable question why they didn’t run it in experimental mode.
Earlier in a blog post, the developers mentioned that they wanted to test new ideas to see which changes players liked the most. But in the latest update, they explained the reason for experimenting with Quick Play.
They explained: “The truth is that the experimental map was never popular enough for us to get the kind of data from it that we wanted. Only about 18% of our players joined this queue, and of those, the overwhelming the majority only play a single game before returning to their favorite modes.
The developers also mentioned that they wanted to get “long-term data and feedback” outside of Experimental, noting that it’s difficult to “judge a game-wide change in just one match.
Rest assured, regarding Quicker Play, the developers have said that they are aware of player feedback and planned to change how the mode should run during upcoming events.
