The hit UK series, which follows the Trotter brothers as they try a number of questionable get-rich-quick schemes to become millionaires, ran for 22 years from 1981 to 2003.

Sir David played the role of Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in Only Fools and Horses, starring alongside Nick Lyndhurst, who played Rodney Trotter (Del Boy’s brother).

The series also featured the likes of Leonard “Lennard” Pearce (Grandad), Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger), and John Challis (Boycie).

Only Fools and Horses is one of the most loved shows in UK television history.

Gwyneth Strong played Rodney’s wife, Cassandra, on Only Fools and Horses.

Since then, she has appeared in several other major TV series, including EastEnders, Midsomer Murders, and Silent Witness.

Strong currently plays the role of Ceri Mayland in the long-running BBC drama Casualty.

The 66-year-old actress has now revealed she is working on a new TV show, which will feature her and Only Fools and Horses co-star Tessa Peake-Jones, who played Del Boy’s long-time partner Raquel.

Strong, speaking to The Telegraph, said: “My Only Fools and Horses co-star Tessa Peake-Jones and I are great friends.

“We’re really close. At the moment, I’m writing a television proposal for her and me, so I’ll wake up refreshed from my nap and work on that.

“I can’t say much about it yet, but the show has elements of experiences Tessa and I have had throughout our very long friendship.”

Sir David Jason to reunite Only Fools and Horses cast for new TV series

Sir David Jason is also set to reunite with some of his fellow cast members for Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive.

The two-part series, celebrating the 45th anniversary of Only Fools And Horses, will air behind-the-scenes footage as well as material that the series producer said was “filmed but never broadcast”.

It will feature interviews from cast members, including Sir David, Peake-Jones, Strong, and Sue Holderness (Marlene).

Viewers will be treated to archival material from more than 10 classic episodes, including The Jolly Boys’ Outing and Mother Nature’s Son.

There is also new material from the episodes He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Uncle, Mother Nature’s Son, Time On Our Hands, and an unseen opening scene of Del and Rodney in a nightclub from The Class Of ’62.

Clips have been digitally scanned and restored from 16mm negatives, meaning the cast appear in high definition.

Sir David said: “The love for Only Fools has never faded. It’s incredible to see how many people still hold it close to their hearts.

“Revisiting these rediscovered moments reminded me just how special the show was – and still is. It’s incredible to be able to share them now.”

Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive will air on U&GOLD in 2026.
