McDonald’s will run a live Instagram giveaway on Thursday, offering customers the chance to win 29 separate prizes of 29,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points — the equivalent of seven Big Macs — over the course of an hour as part of its “Leap Year Live” social media promotion.
Customers should keep an eye on McDonald’s UK Instagram page from 12.29pm to 1.29pm on Thursday to see a live-streamed order board from one of its restaurants. Order number 29 will go from “preparing” to “ready for pickup” 29 times over the course of the hour, with the first customer to screenshot the board and direct message the brand with the image winning 29,000 reward points.
The MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme means that every kroner spent is equivalent to one reward point. When customers reach 1,500 points, they can choose from menu items including small fries, a Hash Brown, a regular cold soda or a salad.
