In a world often marked by division, French-Lebanese composer Omar Harfouch is crafting an amazing narrative of unity through his music.
His ‘Concerto for Peace’ blends Western classical styles with Eastern melodies, creating a universal language aimed at building global harmony.
The artist’s focus on peace not only positions him as a musical innovator, but a humanitarian too.
Awards and previous shows
Omar’s groundbreaking performances have been vital in his mission, and on November 14, 2024, he became one of the first artists to grace the Vatican’s Apostolic Library stage.
The historic Vatican concert, attended by many cultural leaders, earned him the Vatican Jubilee 2025 Pontifical Medal, recognising him as a ‘pilgrim of peace’. This accolade highlights his role as a global advocate for unity through music.
He was also honoured by the Better World Fund at the Venice Film Festival 2024 with the Best Achievement for Peace Award, presented by Kevin Costner. The prize celebrates his role in promoting interfaith and intercultural narratives through art.
In September this year, Omar unveiled his ‘Concerto for Peace’ at Paris’ Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. The event captured the hearts of more than 1,700 visitors, including actress Catherine Deneuve.
The Parisian premiere highlighted the artist’s ability to blend artistic brilliance with an important message of coexistence.
Earlier this month, on December 7, Omar also performed at the Dubai Opera, with Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom welcomed on stage during the show. The performance further emphasises Omar’s international appeal and commitment to spreading his message across continents.
A mission beyond music
Omar’s influence extends beyond performances. He is deeply committed to educational outreach, with an aim to empower youth through musical workshops that encourage self-expression and tolerance.
His initiatives blend art with activism, addressing themes of freedom and social justice – and his philosophy is rooted in the belief that music transcends language and cultural barriers.
Drawing from both his Middle Eastern roots and European influences, he crafts compositions that inspire reflection and foster understanding.
Upcoming concerts
Continuing his mission, Omar soon plans to perform in Shanghai and New York City. These concerts aim to foster cross-cultural dialogue and engage audiences during times of global uncertainty.
He will also expand his tour to French cities like Lyon and Bordeaux, reinforcing his dedication to promoting peace through music.
