Ollie Dabbous has revealed that he will step down as chef patron of Hide in London’s Mayfair at the start of 2025.
The chef launched Hide in April 2018 as a multi-level collaboration with Hedonism Wines in Piccadilly, London. This followed the closure of his casual dining restaurant Barnyard and his eponymous restaurant Dabbous, which had earned him the 2013 Newcomer Catey Award the previous year.
With the support of then head chef Luke Selby, now head chef of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, he guided Hide to earn its first Michelin star in just five months.
Following Dabbous’ departure, the group’s current chef Josh Angus will take on the role of executive chef at Hide.
Angus has collaborated with Dabbous on both his eponymous restaurant and Hide, where he has been a key member of the team since its launch seven years ago.
Dabbous said: “It’s been an incredible experience helping to set up and run such a large restaurant with so much attention to detail. When we started it was a construction site, but now I feel like I’m leaving a well-loved and established restaurant. I wish the team every success in the future, it’s going to be great in hand I enjoy a moment with my family and friends before focusing on the next adventure.
Hedonism Group CEO Tatiana Fokina added: “We are very grateful for everything Ollie has contributed to Hide’s success and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a strong kitchen team that has been together for many years and are confident that Hide will continue to thrive under Josh’s leadership.
