Beer Street is an amber rye bitter made by London Brewing Company, who are now based at the Bohemia pub in North Finchley.

The company was founded in 2011 at The Bull in North Hill where it says it “honed skills as one of London’s only Brewpubs, brewing small-batch cask ales primarily for sale on site”.

It soon outgrew the cosy gastropub, and stepped in to buy the Bohemia in Tally Ho Corner which closed suddenly in 2013.

After installing a 1,000 litre brewhouse out the back in 2014 it has created a community hub focused on cask and keg ales.

On its website it says: “The Bohemia isn’t just a pub with a brewery. It’s a place for the community to gather; over a pint, a plate of food, and a shared love of great beer made right here in North Finchley.”

After being nominated by beer lovers and winning through local blind judging heats, the Beer Street bitter has now scooped the Campaign for Real Ale’s Champion Winter Beer of Britain award.

The title was announced at the Liverpool Beer Festival with Beer Street now battling it out for Supreme Champion 2026 at CAMRA’s Cambridge Beer Festival in May.

Coordinator of the judging panel Christine Cryne described the ale as: “A sparkling golden amber bitter, with spicy rye and a roasty nose, sweet biscuit on the flavour, where the spicy rye notes increase and linger in the dry and slightly bitter finish. Very easy drinking.”

Posting on Instagram the London Brewing Company wrote: “Our very own Beer Street (4.0%) has taken the top spot — named Best Bitter in Britain.

“A traditional English bitter brewed with Goldings and Fuggles hops, built on a balanced malt backbone delivering notes of toffee, dried fruit, dark chocolate and a subtle nutty rye finish.

“Brewed in London. Champion in Britain.”

London Brewing director Senan Sexton said: “We’re absolutely delighted that our best bitter, Beer Street, has been named Champion Winter Beer of Britain 2026 by CAMRA. We’ve been brewing Beer Street since we founded the brewery in 2011, and it’s a real testament to the skill and dedication of our head brewer, Alex, that he has continued to refine and elevate the recipe over the years.

“This accolade means a tremendous amount to a brewery of our size. It’s not only a proud moment for our team, but also a fantastic boost that celebrates the enduring appeal of high-quality cask ales enjoyed in pubs across the UK.”
