Earlier this week, double Emmy-nominated actor, comedian and writer Nick Mohammed was unveiled as the host of the Olivier Awards 2026 with Cunard.

The awards, which celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, will be held at the Royal Albert Hall and broadcast on prime-time BBC on Sunday 12 April. The Oliviers celebrate the best of London’s theatre over the past year, recognising both on and off-stage talent in 24 categories.

Nick Mohammed is arguably best known for his role as Nate in the hugely popular comedy Ted Lasso alongside his co-star Hannah Waddinghamwho hosted the awards in 2023 and 2024.  He can also be seen in a range of comedy and dramatic roles, including in Deep Cover, Slow Horses and Intelligencea show which he not only stars in but also created and writes.

The faithful among you will also know him as a finalist in last year’s much talked about Celebrity Traitors on BBC One.

Nick stars in Ted Lasso with Hannah Waddingham, who has also hosted the Olivier Awards

“To host the Oliviers in its 50th year is not only a dream come true but an absolute honour and privilege. I love it not only for the breadth of theatrical talent it celebrates, but also for the extraordinary variety of live performances it showcases on the night itself.

“While I will try to remain in the wings during these, I can’t promise I won’t be singing along (in full voice). But at least I won’t be on roller-skates this time!”

– Nick Mohammed

Nick is no stranger to the stage himself, having performed for many years in theatres across the country in character-driven comedy. He was last in the West End in Christmas 2024 as his frequent on-stage persona Mr Swallow in the self-written comedy A Christmas Carol…ish at @SohoPlace. He is currently on a national tour for his new comedy Show Pony.
