New Balance just took the wraps off of ones of its biggest drops of the year, and before you ask what sneaker it is, it’s actually a fragrance. Known as the ‘Distilled’ series, it’ll be available in two scents, including ‘Original’ and ‘Court.’
Unlike other eau de toilettes and colognes that are all about woody, floral, and amber scents, the ‘Distilled’ fragrances smell exactly like what you’d think they’d smell like: a pair of brand new trainers. The ‘Original’ pays tribute to the Boston-based brand’s classic silhouettes, and has notes of leather, suede, rubber, cotton socks, and of course, freshly-mowed grass – so your dad shoes can actually smell like dad shoes.

On the other hand, ‘The Court’ nods to performance basketball models, with leather, suede, basketball rubber, and hardwood floor notes that are developed from Australian sandalwood, Australian White Cypress, juniper berry wild tyrol essential oil, and leather accord.
This isn’t the first time that a sportswear company has unveiled their own fragrance line. In the past, Adidas and Nike both launched their own ones, but they weren’t a wild success. Many of these were wildly-overpriced to begin with, so when they realised that nobody was buying them, they were just given away with select online and in-store purchases. They also smelt less like Byredo and more like a very weak Lynx Africa, which isn’t exactly a vibe.

The New Balance ‘Distilled’ series is set to drop on December 19, and will be exclusively available for the first 100 customers at the brand new New Balance Grey Store in Sydney, Australia. While this is their first eau de toilette collection, we’re pretty sure it won’t be their last.
