What will Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender be about?
The live-action series is heavily inspired by the original anime, as the official Netflix synopsis reads, “Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them.
“But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope.
“But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar.”

Mark your calendars, because is coming to Netflix on 22nd February, 2024 and, per Variety, will have eight episodes in total. Woohoo!
Is the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender different from the original?
So, buckle up for this one. The live-action version had invited back original series creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, to the project but in 2020, they left due to creative differences with the studio.
Taking to Instagram to share why, Bryan wrote, “When Netflix brought me on board to run this series alongside Mike two years ago, they made a very public promise to support our vision. Unfortunately, there was no follow-through on that promise.
“Though I got to work with some great individuals, both on Netflix’s side and our own small development team, the general handling of the project created what I felt was a negative and unsupportive environment.” Oh, Bryan!
So, I guess we’ll have to wait and see how similar or different it will be without Bryan and Mike’s involvement.
