At the end of the movie, after Elodie and her new pet dragon rather brutally burn down the entire corrupt kingdom that threw her into the abyss to her death, she joins her stepmother and sister as they sail off to greener pastures.
Brooke Carter reported that production ended “film(ing) two different endings for the film:”
“We shot two different endings for the movie. And I feel like it would be great for them to see the other ending that we shot because it could start off as a completely different vibe of what happens (in the future)… So one was where Elodie stayed with us and the other was where Elodie left.”
“There were a lot of changes” the actor confirmed about the final film compared to the original script, but the ending as a whole changed the most:
“There were a lot of changes. I think we changed it quite a bit. I mean, the story from the beginning to the middle stayed the same. The ending changed quite a lot. A lot of lines were cut and a lot of Lines were added. So when we did the reshoots, there were quite a few scenes that were changed to other scenes. “
When asked which scene was the most difficult for Carter to film, he was quick to point to the cave scenes he had towards the end.
The actor told how this performance “it was difficult” due to balancing “upset” but also “happy at the same time:”
“I think one of the cave scenes. When Elodie finds me, it was hard because I was upset but I was happy at the same time. So it was very hard for me to get my head around that scene. It was challenging.”
The actor admitted to filming some cave scenes “(were) kind of scary” At first, some series were quite tight and close:
“So my first scene I shot was in a cave. And it was such a tight cave. It was kind of scary. At first I had to pull my legs out and stuff. Some of the caves were really scary compared to others. But then I think my favorite cave scene was the one where we got to see a dragon. And then there was, like, this massive water, this kind of puddle. And it was huge, and I had no idea how they did it.”
Working Strange things star Millie Bobby Brown, Carter called it “such an amazing experience” even if it is “starting scary:”
“It was such an amazing experience. It was quite scary at first because he’s such a professional actor and he’s so big in the acting world. But over time he gave me a lot of tips and tricks on set and it made me want to push myself more with such amazing actors .”
The two actors were able to bond further when “(they) stayed in this vineyard” in “Portugal.”
“When we were in Portugal and we stayed at this vineyard, we had dinner together every night. And it was great.”
Although Carter “(doesn’t) have a sister” he was still able to draw on his relationship with his siblings to convey the dynamic between Floria and Elodie:
“I don’t have a sister. So I couldn’t really relate to siblings. But I think I have siblings and how I would react to my siblings or show love to them. It definitely helped me get used to the whole sibling thing with Elodie and Florida.”
Before production even properly began, Carter made sure that not only “read the whole script” measure”Florian’s reactions to certain things” but he also combined descriptive words to help better flesh out his role as a character:
“I was sent a description of Floria, and I read the whole script. And I took ideas from the script about Floria’s reactions to certain things. I made a slide from it and put a lot of descriptive words about Floria. It helps me understand how she would behave in normal, everyday life.”
The Floria actress admitted that dragons and fantasy “(is) definitely one of the most interesting genres,” adding, “You never know what’s going to happen to a dragon.”
As for what gets this dragon inside Girl stands out from the pack, Carter showed how “it can talk:”
“I think one thing that makes it sick is that it can talk. I think that’s definitely a big thing that the dragon can talk to Millie in that. And one is probably the dragon’s backstory is another big one.”
As for what might be in store for Floria after the credits roll, Carter admitted that her character might “to close off more to the world” after the events Girl:
“I feel like my character would grow up and realize that happily ever after doesn’t exist because Floria is always in her own little world with princesses and princes. She’s very confused by that. I think she’s become more. closed off from the world after what happens to him during the film.”
