With half-term quickly approaching, many families in the north west will be looking for fun ways to spend the holiday season.
Luckily, BeWILDerwood Cheshire offers visitors young and old an adventurous day out that’s filled with excitement.
The 70-acre woodland has been inspired by the magical book series of the same name, created by children’s author Tom Blofeld. It was even crowned ‘Visitor Attraction of the Year’ in the 2023 Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards, and is well worth a visit from both locals and those living further afield.
This year’s Easter season at the park, running from Thursday, March 28 until Sunday, April 14, promises a range of fantastic activities for visitors to enjoy, with many surprises along the way.
New for 2024, explorers will be able to meet the Easter Bunny. But they should watch out for the Pesky Bunnies who will be running amuck on stage at the outdoor theatre, joined by the much-loved characters of Swampy the Marsh Boggle and Mildred the Crocklebog to name a few.
Visitors can also enjoy an on-site egg hunt with a special prize to be won at the end, as well as fantastic Easter crafts.
But that’s not all, BeWILDerwood is purse-friendly too. As always, all of the Easter fun, extra activities and on-site attractions, such as the Wobbly Wires, Sky Maze, Broken Bridge, Slippery Slopes and more, are included in both adults’ and children’s tickets.
Regular visitors can also benefit from a membership*, with unlimited visits between February and October, plus discounted special events and a single-use voucher to bring along a friend for free. Prices start from £45 and also include a 15% discount on food and purchases from the park’s gift shop, Bizarre Bazaar.
Author and creator of BeWILDerwood, Tom Blofeld said: “Easter is the perfect time to pick up one of our memberships. It means you can visit us for the holiday and have the whole summer sorted too – come and play as many times as you like during our open season, which usually runs from February until October.
“We’ve also added new perks, with the latest being that you can now use the membership across both parks – so if you’re ever in Norfolk, you can visit that park too!”
A cracking Easter day out
The Easter egg-citement at BeWILDerwood wouldn’t be complete without the site’s magical characters.
That’s why the woodland’s enchanting outdoor theatre will be running daily shows at intervals for visitors to enjoy. At 12pm and 2pm, audiences will be able to see ‘A Boggle at BeWILDerwood’ – the original story come to life which inspired the park itself.
At 1pm and 3pm, the ‘Pesky Bunnies of BeWILDerwood’ will take over the stage, joined once again by some of the original characters from Tom Blofeld’s book series. The special Easter-themed story is sure to keep the little ones entertained, plus there will be meet and greets alongside photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny afterwards.
The fun doesn’t stop there though, as visitors will also be able to hop along on their very own egg hunt around the woodland. The Puzzling Park Easter Trail will be available to collect at the entrance, and those who successfully find where the Pesky Bunnies have hidden their eggs will receive a special BeWILDerwood badge at the end.
Visitors who are feeling creative can even head on down to the Big Hat and enjoy making their own set of colourful bunny ears, to wear as they explore the park’s play structures.
Daring adventure awaits
The littlest adventurers can even be entertained with smaller structures at the park like Toddlewood on the Hill, and Tiptoe Valley, fabulous spots to introduce toddlers to the excitement of BeWILDerwood. There’s also the Twiggle Whizzers, smaller ziplines ideal for tiny thrill-seekers.
And when it’s time for a quick bite to eat, there are picnic tables conveniently placed all around the woods with plenty of balance beams, slides, and swings nearby so young visitors are never too far from the action. There’s also mouth-watering hot and cold food and drinks served at the Munch Bar and Cosy Cabin, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options on the menu.
