A McDonald’s worker has shared a video on TikTok showing how the fast food chain prepares its onions, and it’s making some people feel “sick.” The video, posted by @justinalbert19, shows the worker adding dried onions and ice to a pot, filling it with water and stirring. When the mixture is thick, it is ready to use. This revelation has left many fans shocked, with one question: “Is this a joke?” Another said: “I don’t know what I expected tbh.”
One person commented: “They can’t even cut their own onions.” While another wrote: “I don’t even eat McDonald’s but I’m still sick watching this.”
Another user replied: “You don’t expect them to sit there and cut up fresh onions,” while someone else said: “Normalize people eating dehydrated food because people will eat instant mash.”
Another McDonald’s employee then explained, “There are actually two different types of onions, fresh and dehydrated. Dehydrated goes on McDoubles, Big Macs, cheeseburgers, etc and the fresh sliced goes on hamburgers as a quarter pounder.”
A former McDonald’s chef previously spilled the beans on why you might be told their milkshake machine is “broken”, the Mirror reported. Mike Haracz, who worked as a corporate chef for the fast food giant until 2019, has shared insider information on TikTok. He lets in all the secrets, including why you can’t always get a milkshake or McFlurry.
He shared a tip from someone who said, “I work at McDonald’s. They (the milkshake machine) probably aren’t broken. We just don’t want to add to the mix if it’s busy. If it’s not (busy) then I just hate.” It turns out that making a milkshake isn’t always quick and easy. The staff have to go to the back of the store, get the right things to put in the machine and wait for it to be ready to serve.
This takes time, especially when there are many people waiting to order. So sometimes the staff might say “Sorry, the milkshake machine is broken” instead. Other times the machine may clean itself or the staff is not sure how to set it up after cleaning.
He added: “If it’s not assembled correctly, it won’t work. It’s my understanding that the cleaning cycle takes quite a long time. Running the cleaning cycle and doing everything involved in it probably won’t be done at 2am or 3am :00 because the staffing level at that time is so low. They’re busy with other things. So many times it hasn’t broken, it’s either cleaning or someone has no idea how to put it together and get it going.”
