To mark the annual Hindu Festival of Colours, Babur – one of London’s oldest Indian restaurants – will host an exclusive event. The establishment will team up with Anurag Aggarwal, a finalist in the 2023 series of BBC MasterChef, to create a special Holi dining experience.
On Monday, March 25, the restaurant will serve a five-course rainbow-colored tasting menu, along with live entertainment. Each course will denote a different color.
An opening course of Faldhari Chaat will represent a rainbow through its caramelized seasonal fresh fruits atop crisp, flaky pastry with mint and tamarind chutney, drizzled with sweetened yogurt and pops of pomegranate. Meanwhile, a collaboration of white and blue makes up the second course, with pan-fried masala prawns on blue corn on the cob, coconut chutney, tempered spiced peanuts, garlic, curry leaves and mustard seed oil.
The remaining dishes, designed to represent brown (Methi Chicken), green (Lamb Gunjia) and red (Thandai Kulfi), will bring their own flavor profile to the plate. All dishes will also be matched with a specific wine.
Throughout the night, the festival atmosphere will be enhanced with live performances from the Bollywood Vibes dance troupe and more. The evening will include personal introductions to each course by the chefs.
Tickets for the Babur’s Holi event cost £70 per person and can be booked here. The limited edition Holi Tasting Menu will be available from Monday 25 March to Sunday 31 March for £49.95 per person.
