A crew member working on Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man franchise in Los Angeles has died following an incident on set. The worker was a rigger who fell while at Radford Studios, according to The Mirror US.
The incident has caused the recording to be stopped. In a statement, Marvel said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident.”
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating what happened. IATSE, the set workers’ union, also spoke out. Matthew Loeb, the director of IATSE, said: “Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family and his fellow members and colleagues. Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way we can.”
They plan to start making Wonder Man next month after having to wait because of strikes by the WGA and SAG AFTRA. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is the lead actor in the series. The story revolves around Simons Williams, the son of a rich industrialist in the comics. His company loses to Tony Stark’s Stark Industries, leading Williams to team up with the villain Baron Zemo who gives him ion powers, making him super strong. Although he initially fights the Avengers, Wonder Man eventually teams up with them.
