You may not know it yet, but the River Thames hosts some pretty legendary boat parties. From silent discos to nostalgic knees-ups, there’s simply no limit to what sets sail on these waters. But, if you’re a fan of either ABBA or the Spice Girls, there’s no need to look any further, as these two iconic boat parties will be returning in the spring. Sadly the 2 do not Become 1, so you’ll have to choose between them. And, fine, if you’re not a fan of either, you can always book onto their ‘Summer Boat Party’ which promises more variety from the DJ. Here’s what to expect from each event.
London isn’t short of things to do for ABBA fans, but if you count yourself one of them and you haven’t been to one of these boat parties yet, you’re at risk of being called a fraud. With non-stop ABBA anthems all evening long, this themed Thames cruise is a throwback to the 70s, where you can belt out Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take A Chance On Me, and more, all in the secure and welcoming company of fellow fans.
The boat leaves Blackfriars Pier at 7pm, returning at 11pm. The first date of 2025 is Saturday April 25, with a handful of Saturdays throughout the summer to follow. Get your tickets here.
We’ve all done the BuzzFeed quiz that tells us which Spice Girl we are (I’m Ginger if you’re wondering), but so long as you’re willing to scream Wannabe at the top of your lungs, there’s a place for you at this party – just Say You’ll Be There. Playing continuous hits from one of the 90s’ greatest girl bands, along with other 90s bangers, you might want to get the Strepsils at the ready for the morning after this one.
The Spice Girls Party Boat sets sail from 7-11pm, also from Blackfriars Pier. The first date of 2025 is Saturday March 22, with various other weekend dates to follow. Get your tickets here.
This epic, four-hour cruise along the Thames is accompanied by gorgeous views of the city, as well as three decks supplying music genres to suit absolutely everybody. So, whether you’re into house, RnB, club classics, or fancy a bit of a throwback, there’s sure to be something to get you dancing.
Available on certain Saturdays throughout July, August and September – get your tickets here.
These Thames boat parties are perfect for stag and hen dos, or even a quirky work do that is sure to break the ice. All events include access to a free after party at PopWorld London on Watling Street (nearest stations: Mansion House or St Paul’s) for those who want to continue the party.
