Everybody loves a comeback, and Unity Diner is soon to be making theirs; joining the likes of Oasis and low-rise jeans on the list of the most iconic revivals in recent years. Hot on the heels of announcing its closure just three months ago, London’s much-loved meat-free eatery has just revealed that its doors will be flinging right back open again later this week.

Having been a vital cog in the capital’s vegan restaurant machine; Unity Diner announced its permanent closure at the end of last year, breaking the hearts of London’s plant-based community in the process. In a devastating Instagram statement, the restaurant explained that the ever-rising costs and imminent rent increases had sealed its fate. But it seems as though they might have spoken too soon.

Once again taking to Instagram, Unity Diner announced this week that thanks to successful landlord negotiations, an investment from one of the co-founders, and an incredible amount of support from the local community; the restaurant will be returning to the capital later this week (April 4). And the news has been met, unsurprisingly, with a huge outpouring of joy from Londoners and beyond.

Beloved for giving classic fast-food a vibrant, vegan makeover; diners will once again be able to tuck into the plant-based likes of burgers, mac and cheese, and fish and chips. The sustainable, nonprofit, and darn delicious diner will reopen with a revamped menu, featuring the return of previously popular plant-based dishes, plus some new meat-free menu items on the block. Unity Diner will also be launching London’s first ever 100% vegan carvery from April 20.

Founded by animal activist and vegan influencer, Ed Winters (AKA Earthling Ed), Unity Diner opened in 2018 in a small spot in Hoxton, before levelling up to a larger location in Spitalfields. Over the many years, venue changes, and trials and tribulations faced; the ethos of Unity Diner has steadfastly remained the same. Serving up outrageously delicious vegan food, whilst spreading awareness for animals and raising funds for animal sanctuary, Surge; dining at Unity Diner is as good for your conscience as it is your tastebuds. What more could you possibly want?

Unity Diner will reopen on Friday, April 4. Find out more and plan your visit here.
