Two of London’s best fish and chip restaurants have been nominated for the National Fish & Chip Awards 2025. Hailed as South London’s finest chippy and recipient of numerous awards, Brockley’s Rock is once again nominated.
This time it joins the shortlist of Stones Fish and Chips in Acton, west London, which was also named one of Britain’s 50 best chippies by Fry magazine last year.

A panel of fish and chip experts has had the tough task of judging the takeaways that competed in the competition. In the next round, they will whittle down the shortlist to 20 and then to the final 10, before the National Fish & Chip Awards ceremony takes place on February 26 next year at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London. There, the new winner will be announced, taking over the baton from the current champion, Caerphilly-based Ship Deck.
President of the NFFF, Andrew Crook, says the judges have seen “fantastic entries” so far, adding: “Fish and chips is such an iconic British staple and it takes a huge amount of skill and hard work to not only perfect the dish and other menu offerings but to also overcome challenges and sustain the business while keeping employees motivated and satisfied.
“There is a lot behind it and every awards season we see greater depth of talent, expertise and business acumen and this trend has continued this year as well.
“This year’s takeaway is the big one, so it goes without saying that the journey it takes contestants on is very intense. At every stage lessons and recommendations are given to encourage the hopefuls to keep pushing forward and that’s why the National Fish & Chip Awards are seen as the competition for chip shop owners who want the extra board to be better than they were before. We are off to a great start and we look forward to the next rounds and honoring these deserving people.
