London Theatre Week is back and there are a host of cheap tickets up for grabs to attend some of the best West End shows like Lion King and Harry Potter. The special week has gone from strength to strength over the years giving more people an opportunity to attend these shows.
From Monday (February 19), everyone will have the chance to get their hands on the cut-price tickets from as little as £35, £25 or even £15 for some amazing shows. It’s sure to pull in the theatre enthusiast and those who have never been before. You can see all the deals at websites like TodayTix and London Theatre Direct on Monday morning.
It’s not only West End shows that you can see in the week though as the week also shines a light on emerging talent and some of the most anticipated new shows such as Hello, Dolly!, Mean Girls and Opening Night.
Michael Harrison, Producer of Hello, Dolly! and The Little Big Things said: “It has been so great to see London Theatre Week grow over the years and successfully generate a broader cultural moment – for both theatregoers and producers alike – that drives excitement around London’s remarkable and vibrant West End.”
Lion King
You can see the childhood favourite for many, The Lion King, on a West End stage with its incredible array of costumes and sets. Performed at the Lyceum Theatre, there are tickets available from £35. Featuring the original music from Elton John we all know and love, it’s a spectacular take on the beloved Disney film.
Book of Mormon
For the adults, there is The Book of Mormon from the creators of South Park for which you can get tickets from £23. The outrageous show is not for the easily offended and takes a typically offensive, South Park-style look at the life of people in the Mormon Church. Promoters say: “The Book of Mormon musical follows Elder Price, a rising star in his church and a shining example for all the Mormons around him. When it’s his turn to go on his mission, he dreams of going to Orlando to spread his faith. So when he ends up in Uganda with the awkward Elder Cunningham, he struggles to see ‘God’s plan’.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Maybe you’ll fancy seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from £30. The play, which typically gets sold out well in advance, follows a brand new story set 19 years after the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry, Ron and Hermione’s children are swept up in a new adventure full of peril as a time turner changes the course of events several times and leaves them battling mysterious forces in an attempt to get things back on track.
Mean Girls
The hit film-turned-stage show has tickets available from £23 during London Theatre Week. On at The Savoy Theatre, it tells the story of Cady Heron who moves from the African savanna to America, and has to contend with a new kind of wild environment at high school. She gets tied up in drama and teenage cliques as she seeks to become most popular.
The Mouse Trap
A chance to solve the Agatha Christie whodunnit while you enjoy the show, The Mouse Trap is one of the productions with tickets available for £15. Opening at the Ambassadors Theatre in 1952, The Mouse Trap is also the world’s longest running play. IT’s described by promoters as having ‘a mixture of 1950s drawing-room comedy and murder mystery’.
There’s so much on offer and only seven days to make the most of it. Stephen Crocker, GM UK, TodayTix Group said: “London Theatre Week is the perfect time for anyone who loves theatre – along with anyone who would like to experience more of the West End’s incredible productions – to get tickets for London’s biggest hits.”
