Another day, another item to add to the ever-growing list of why London is so darn brilliant. That’s right, folks: our beloved capital city has been handed yet another crown – and this time, for being the best city in the UK for foodies.
Now, here at Secret London, we’re no strangers to stuffing our faces with outrageously good food on an outrageously regular basis. The city is full-to-bursting with deliciousness, after all. We’re certainly not surprised to see London swoop in and nab the foodie crown, but it sure is nice to have it in writing.
Women-only travel company, Solo Female Travelers Tours are who we have to thank for this shiny new accolade. They did the research, crunched the numbers, and analysed Trip Advisor data to determine the results. Each city was ranked based on factors such as the amount of Michelin star establishments, how many vegan and vegetarian-friendly spots there are, and the number of spots that offer table service and delivery.
Index scores out of ten were awarded for each factor to calculate the results, and London came out on top with a total score of 83.56. Edinburgh and Brighton came in second and third place respectively, with Edinburgh scoring 61.26 and Brighton 55.55.
A spokesperson from Solo Female Travelers Tours commented: “It’s interesting to see which UK cities make the ranking, particularly with only a selection of the most populated cities across the nation making an appearance. The findings reflect the best locations for foodies to live, as well as suggesting the cities to visit that can make a fun day out. However, the jump between London’s score of 83.56 and Edinburgh’s score of 61.26 is rather significant, despite both cities taking the top two places; it suggests that London is the ultimate city for foodies and won’t be stripped of its title anytime soon.”
