London Firefighters Tackle Underground Fire In Holborn

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is currently dealing with a fire that has broken out in an underground utilities tunnel in central London. The fire was out of control until around 2pm, and while LFB remains on site, they now say the fire is “under control.”

It is being reported by many major outlets that there are ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters on Theobalds Roadby the junction of Southampton Row in Holborn, trying to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and there are no reports of any injuries.

Bus routes are being diverted away from the area, and the affected area has been cordoned off. Buses on diversion are: 1, 19, 38, 55, 59, 68, 133, SL6. Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area.

The London Fire Brigade have announced on social media platform “X” that the fire is now under control, but crews remain on the scene to begin their investigation into the cause:
