Nicholas Ryde, 41, had been a teacher at the King Alfred School for almost a decade when he was arrested in February 2024 for possessing and distributing indecent photos of children.

At Barkingside Magistrates’ Court in July 2024 he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children and three counts of distributing them, London Now reports.

Ryde, living in Newham, was given a two-year suspended prison sentence and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The photos were not of pupils at the school Ryde taught at.

He ceased employment at the school weeks after his arrest.

In December 2025, the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) concluded that Ryde should be banned from teaching in England indefinitely.

“There was a strong public interest consideration in respect of the safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils, given the serious findings of making and distributing images of children,” the TRA panel concluded.
