A national express coach

Christmas is expensive for most of us. It’s extortionate for parents. No matter the cost, you’ve got to find a way to get the hottest new toy—and that’s before you take into account a Christmas tree, champagneprosecco, a turkey, decorations, and presents for everyone else.

That’s why the National Express has brought back its ‘Kids Go Free’ offer. Sleep easy knowing that a trip to see grandma and grandpa won’t cost an arm and a leg. Not only is it offering fares from £6 one-waybut up to three children (15 and under) can travel for free with a fare-paying adult.

“At this time of year, we know it can be stressful and expensive for families,” said Sarah Rosier, Customer Experience Director for National Express. “That’s why we’re making it easier and more affordable to create special memories together this festive season.

“Whether it’s visiting the Christmas markets, watching a pantomime, or a Twixmas trip to keep the kids entertained, our kids go free offer is helping parents save on travel costs so they can enjoy winter adventures with the whole family.”

Why travel with National Express this Christmas?

Whether it’s to see the nation’s best Christmas markets or a far-flung family member, National Express boasts ‘reliability’ as its USP—the coach network exceeds 90% punctuality, while cancellations are less than 0.2%. While it might take a little longer than the train, it is a lot cheaperand you’re less likely to be affected by planned rail disruptions.

If you’re concerned about the actual journey, then National Express has greatly improved the smoothness of the coach trip. There are free child booster seats, onboard free Wi-Fi and USB power sockets, and generous luggage space—with prams and pushchairs also carried for free. You can also book a preferred seat for an extra £2 per person.

How do ‘kids travel free’?

Plan your journey as normal on the National Express website, and at checkout, use the promo code: KIDSFREE. This offer runs up until January 4, 2026and only applies to up to 3 kids, up to 15 years old, going free with 1 adult.
