Yuji is currently battling Sukuna with his new powers in the Jujutsu Kaisen – but how can he use blood manipulation?
Jujutsu Kaisen hid Yuji’s powers for a long time until the start of his final battle against Sukuna. His desperate attempt to kill the villain and save his friend after the death of his beloved sensei has been thrilling so far.
In the short time between Gojo’s return and the Battle of the Strongest, everyone’s skills improved significantly. They all trained to be ready in case Gojo lost the battle. However, the one who has improved the most is Yuji Itadori.
Not only is Yuji capable of using the complex Reverse Curse technique, but he can also use blood manipulation and has an uncanny ability to attack someone’s soul with his punches. Dive deeper to find out how Yuji can use blood manipulation in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Was Yuji born with the innate blood manipulation technique?
Although Choso and Yuji are technically brothers, they are not actually related by blood. Yuji is a human, while Choso is a reincarnated Cursed Womb: Painting of Death. A few centuries ago, Kenjaku Noritoshi possessed Kamo’s body and used Choso’s mother to give birth to him and the rest of his nine siblings.
Centuries later, Kenjaku Kaori possessed Itadori and gave birth to Yuji for an elaborate plan. That’s how Choso and Yuji became brothers. However, Yuji was not born with the Kamo clan’s innate technique.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 220 actually already revealed how Yuji can use blood manipulation. He says he will eat anything as long as he can kill Sukuna, then explains his plan to save Megumi. Later, Choso gives him Yuki’s notes on his research on souls, where Yuji mentions the rest of their siblings.
But before Yuji can elaborate, Choso hints that he’s glad their siblings can live with him. The meaning behind Yuji eating the remaining death paintings couldn’t be clearer. Since the death paintings contain Noritoshi Kamo’s blood, each of them inherited the blood manipulation technique, which has now been passed down to Yuji.
Chapter 247 also tacitly hints that Yuji is using Choso’s penetrating blood, but it is still unclear if it is Yuji or Choso. Since Choso is seriously injured in this scene, it is probably Yuji who initiates the attack on Sukuna.
As the fight continues in Chapter 251, Yuji surprises the King of Curses with a crazy technique. He first spits a mouthful of blood in Sukuna’s face and then explodes. The technique appears to be an extension of blood manipulation. The fight is still on and the series will no doubt shed more light on all of Yuji’s abilities.
