I’ve changed my mind about the outcome Married at first sight season 18 couple Ikechi Ojoré and Emem Obot. Now I think they hit well, even though Ikechi has shown some red flags. Married at first sight season 18 introduces a total of five couples. The panel of experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec and Rev. Cal Robinson, fit them all. MAFS has a notoriously poor success rate, but I believe Emem and Ikechi are one of the success stories.

None of the Season 18 couples have called it quits yet, which I’m told is already better than the last few seasons where couples broke up well before their one-month anniversaries. Season 18’s David Trimble and Michelle Tomblin are the couple that seem to have the most differences and issues, but they too persevere through the experience to see if they can come to an understanding. Ikechi and Emem started their fight later but I’m sure they’re back on track and promote a good marriage.

Ikechi and Emem share the same goals and values

They are suitable for important things

Ikechi and Emem started Married at first sight journey on a very interesting playing field. Ikechi, who has been writing letters to his future wife, tugged at Ememi’s heartstrings at the wedding by describing her letter work and performing a song for her. Thus, they both share similar deep religious beliefs and desire to grow together in faith. Emem enjoyed Ikechi’s creative gestures and was also moved by his commitment to the marriage.

During their honeymoon, they found out they conformed to the children they wanted, it’s good for each of them to be like that. 41-year-old College Counselor Ikechi is the second-oldest cast member this season, and having a child is a priority for her early marriage as she gets older. Emem, a 34-year-old nurse, has felt that she is finally at a place in her career and life where she is ready to take the next steps.

Their honeymoon told

One of Ememi and Ikechi’s early positives was their instant attraction to each other. They shared a kiss at the altar and I could tell they were instantly tender and comfortable with each other. When they met the other couples during the honeymoon, I thought Ikechi and Emem were a narrower looking couple.

I felt they were very attached in a romantic and relationship-building way that far exceeded the attachment of other couples.

However, things changed on this intimate level between the pair.

Ikechi has shown problematic behavior

Ikechi revealed his reasoning for the stance

The first problem I saw Ikechi and Ememi run into was Ememi’s direct questions meant to get to know him annoy Ikechi. Ikechi also used a phrase that annoyed Ememi when she tried to get to know him better.

“I don’t know you.”

He called Lifelongis Emem “aggressive” on several occasions, including to his friends and family, the word I know upset and hurt Ememi. Things got even worse when Emem brought it up off camera, Ikechi raised his voice to her at dinnerand it made him very uncomfortable. After that, Emem said that she and Ikechi had not spoken.

To do this, they had a session with Dr. Pia in a cafe, where he tried to get them back on track. Ikechi revealed that he was really bothered by Emem who allegedly tried to touch him sexually when he did not want his advances. He wanted to build a more solid understanding of each other before they progressed. However, Emem thought Ikechi was sending Mixed Messageswhen he put his hand on her crotch during the honeymoon. Emem apologized for trying to move on with Ikechi when it was unwanted and they agreed to forgive each other and move forward with better communication.

Ikechi and Emem grow stronger from adversity

They are both mature

When Ikechi and Emem sat down with Dr. Pia to sort out their differences, they reached a middle ground. Ikechi started the interaction spicy, but Dr. Pia, since Eem wanted to resolve the situation, softened his attitude.

I think Ikechi and Emem have shown their maturity to stick with the process.

While I’m thinking Married at first sight the couple’s journey is not completely smooth from now on, I know they have expert helpand both want to be married to each other, which will help them progress more positively.

Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.

The changes have been saved

Based on the Danish version of the series, Married at First Sight is a reality show/social experiment that gives singles the chance to find a lifelong partnership with one caveat: they must agree to marry a stranger the moment they meet. Experts offer advice and guidance as they help couples navigate their new marriage with an unknown partner, highlighting the newlyweds’ journey from wedding to honeymoon to starting their new life together. After eight weeks, couples decide to stay married or divorce.
