Family Chantel star Pedro Jimeno sometimes gets a bad rap, but Personally, I think he’s not a complete write-off as a person – and I’m going to tell you why. To be fair, I’ve written negative articles about Pedro, but I’ve also tried to think about his side of things. I’ve really tried. So I was often conflicted.
For example, I clearly recognized Pedro messing with Chantel Everett’s head before he left her. I wasn’t quite sure if he had always planned to leave her. Because I had these questions, my work alternated between positive and negative. I portrayed him as a villain and I would believe what I wrote – sometimes, however, doubts creep in. Sometimes I felt bad about the things I wrote, even though they were probably true, or at least partly true.
Was Pedro really rotten to the core?
Maybe he didn’t plan to hurt Chantel
Pedro met Chantel when she started teaching him Spanish. He was very handsome – Chantel was beautiful. He was American – he was from the Dominican Republic. Together they made a very cute couple. It wasn’t that hard to believe it could be true. If Chantel was a more mature woman, as I think it is, it would have been less believable. However, these two look like models.

So, Pedro and Chantel are very attractive people, and to be honest, their looks haven’t bothered them at all. Their pictures are probably the main reason why fans have responded to them and enjoyed watching their emotional fireworks on screen. There’s nothing wrong with that. When producers cast movies or reality shows or whatever, they think about these things. Outsiders have their role.
However, the fact that both are good-looking people may have masked some problems. For example, Pedro’s ulterior motives could be masked by his own veneer of glamor as well as his partner’s beauty. Chantel is rumored to have been targeted by Pedro and his family. If you believe that version of events, from day one, Pedro knew he would use, shame and then abandon Chantel. If that’s true, he’s a bad person. He was very confident and did nothing to deserve such treatment.
However, there is no hard evidence that this happened. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence that may point to a plan, but no actual evidence. Pedro denies using Chantel and said he loved her. Her former friend paints Pedro as a green card hunter and a liar, saying that he let his friends make fun of Chantel in Spanish in front of him. Those friends, as the “source” claims, knew about Pedro’s master plan. Pedro says the “source” is dishonest.

That’s right, we have. We mold the facts, feelings and impressions we receive into forms we can understand. Often in this process we show ourselves as heroes. Most people don’t think of themselves as villains. Sometimes also when it comes to our own stories and other people’s stories, we misunderstand. No narrative is immune to bias.
The court system is designed to remove this bias and provide a fairer assessment of the situation. Lawyers are trained to think critically. Judging without evidence can be wrong, so I try not to. I have my own feelings but I need more evidence before judging and maybe the fans are judging Pedro too much. Perhaps I have gone too far in my criticism of him, as I have never met him. He might not be as bad as he is made out to be.
In real life, emotions exist, pulling people off course and pushing them in different directions. Pedro says he never used Chantel. Her ex-friend says he always planned to use her. Who is telling the truth? It is hearsay without further evidence. Only hard facts can confirm the truth. Of course, the parties involved already know the truth. There is gaslighting – trying to hide an unpleasant truth until it cannot be hidden. After that is approval.
The fact is that Pedro left Chantel. He didn’t love her anymore, if he ever did. I’m glad she left him because her life with a man who faked her feelings would be awful even if she was completely clueless. By leaving him, he gave her a chance to process her pain, grow as a person, and become a stronger, better person…one who could reach her full potential. Her decision to leave left her devastated and miserable, but it was her only hope for true happiness.
So, whether he planned it or not, I think his choice to leave Chantel was the right one. He could have stayed because of the reality fame and the money it made – but he left. She sacrificed her reality stardom to leave a marriage that didn’t fulfill her. Isn’t it possible that he really fell in love? Would a true influencer give up a real-life career that puts him in the limelight? It never counted for me.
Is Pedro good or bad?
He can be a bit of both
His family may have wanted him to use Chantel, but maybe he grew to love her anyway. Life is complicated. They were together for years. Only Pedro an ambitious real estate agent (as seen in the Instagram post above) knows the truth, but I’m personally so thankful that he had the courage to leave a woman he didn’t love, because staying with her would be the ultimate disrespect. Now he may not find love, but he is free from lovelessness.
I’ve had negative thoughts about Pedro many times, based on his family’s mercenary ways, Chantel’s heartbreak, and more. I’ve also sometimes liked Pedro – like when he posted his parents’ hilarious mispronunciations of some English phrases, including “Home Depot.” I have found her attractive, well groomed and fit. It’s just that Family Chantel the star hurt Chantel so much. It’s hard to see a woman in such pain.
