I could easily have eaten half a box at once

I have always preferred giving gifts to receiving them. That’s why, every year at Christmas, I make it my mission to find the most meaningful presents that are sure to be loved and cherished by the recipient.

But Mother’s Day is a different story. With only a couple of months between it and Christmas, I always find myself lacking inspiration.

Because flowers are pretty, but also a bit of a cliché. Likewise, I don’t tend to give food as a gift, as it’s perishable and, in my opinion, doesn’t come across as a thoughtful gesture.

But that was before I stumbled upon Cutter & Squidge. Created by two ‘food-obsessed sisters’, it’s London’s only all-natural bakery.

Although they are located in Soho, they also offer delivery throughout the United Kingdom. But what is so special about them that made me change my mind, you may ask?

Well, quite a few things, so let me list them for you. First of all, they offer a wide selection of treats and even have different collections for every important event of the year, including Mother’s Day.

What’s more, their packages are always nicely presented, which means you can give them as gifts without having to repackage them, or even order them directly to the recipient’s address. But the icing on the cake is the treats themselves.

One might think that ordering pastries and other baked goods online means that they will not be as fresh upon delivery as those purchased from a bakery, for example. However, I can assure you that this is by no means the case.

I tried cookie pies, brownies, cheesecake brownies and blondies. The day I received them, and every day after that until the boxes were empty, they tasted as if they had just been made.

As an amateur baker, I naturally have a sweet tooth, but I always reduce the amount of sugar by at least half in all the recipes I make. So I’m always worried that the treats I buy will be a bit sickly.

But again, that didn’t apply here. They were sweet, of course, but I could easily have eaten half a box at once – if only I didn’t have a slow metabolism.

Not to mention the flavours, which were a mix of bold and traditional pairings, but all worked perfectly well. Now I haven’t specifically tried the Mother’s Day range, but I can say without hesitation that it will be just as good as the ones I’ve already tested.

Here’s everything you can get:

So if you still weren’t sure what to get your mum on March 15, look no further. With a bit of luck, she’ll share them with you and you’ll get the chance to enjoy these delicious treats yourself.

For more hamper options, you can head to Marks and Spencer. You can also check out Fortnum & Mason, and Hampers.com.
