The beloved unscripted show, which premiered in 2020, has always been filmed in Kentucky, where producers benefit from the state’s generous tax breaks for film and television productions. If Tammy ends up leaving Kentucky, the show would be canceled because she is arguably the biggest star on the show.

The unscripted series tells about the weight loss journeys of 38-year-old Tammy and her sister, 37-year-old Amy Slaton. The 1000-lb Sisters season 6 stars have lost a lot of weight since their television debut, and so have several of their siblings. While the family dynamic is a big draw, the show probably couldn’t exist without Tammy or Amy. I wasn’t too worried the first time Tammy threatened to leave Kentucky, but now that she’s brought it up repeatedly, I’m worried about the future of the show.

The Slatons are a very tight-knit family, and their unique family dynamic is one of my favorite things about the show. The Slatons are together all the time and during it 1000-lb Sisters season 6, it really started to get on Tammy’s nerves. After her 2020 television debut, Tammy has undergone bariatric surgery and lost an amazing 500 kilos. He went from over 700kg to over 200kg, so his life has completely changed. It wasn’t just about looks either. Losing weight was a completely transformative experience that changed Tammy on every level.

Before losing weight, Tammy had limited mobility, so she needed constant help from her family. Now that he’s mobile, he can take care of himself, so he wants a more independent lifestyle. I understand why Tammy wants distance from her family, but I wish she would consider a vacation instead of threatening to leave Kentucky. As a fan 1000-lb Sisters, I don’t want the show to be cancelled. In addition to being deeply entertaining, the show has inspired so many people to pursue their own weight loss goals.

Because 1000-lb Sisters premiering in 2020, it was filmed in Kentucky, where the Slatons live. If Tammy leaves Kentucky, it’s possible he could still come to town just to film show, but that would be an unsustainable solution to the problem. Especially considering that Tammy has resisted learning to drive. As much as I hate to admit it, if Tammy ends up leaving Kentucky, it’s only a matter of time before 1000-lb Sisters will be cancelled.

Tammy is not ready to be independent

After Tammy had bariatric surgery and lost 500 poundshe regained much of his mobility. He no longer needs help with basic chores, such as bathing and cleaning the house. I understand why Tammy wants to flex her independence, but I really don’t think she’s ready to be on her own. The fact that he still refuses to learn to drive is a big part of the problem.

Before she lost weight, she couldn’t even fit in a regular car seat, let alone the driver’s seat, so she never learned to drive. He had to be driven in a special car with the middle seat ripped out so he could sit on the floor.

Now that Tammy can easily fit in the driver’s seat of any car, I would have thought she would take the opportunity to learn to drive, but I was wrong. Today, the burden of driving Tammy falls mostly on her brother, 44-year-old Chris Combs. She has repeatedly tried to teach Tammy to drive, but 1000-lb Sisters the star still refuses to learn. Tammy will never be truly independent until she can drive around, and I hope she stops making unnecessary threats to leave Kentucky.
