Activision’s latest Black Ops Call of Duty sub-franchise that thrusts players back into the world of international espionage, this time alongside iconic characters such as Black Ops 6Sergeant Frank Woods stops a secret terrorist sect known as Pantheon from releasing a dangerous chemical weapon.
The primary avatar players will see in this story is William “Case” Calderon, a mysterious new member of Woods’ Black Ops team whose past is shrouded in secrecy.
The Black Ops 6 story of Breaking Down Case
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 the campaign leaves some questions unanswered about its main character “Case”.
Also known as William “Case” Calderon, this Black Ops agent is the primary vessel through which players see the story Black Ops 6.
He is introduced as a member of Frank Woods’ iconic Black Ops team of American military agents who worked for the CIA in the 1990s.
They find themselves on the combat path against a mysterious terrorist organization called the Pantheon early in the game after being abandoned by the CIA after a botched hostage rescue.
On this road to the Pantheon, the team discovers a dangerous psychochemical weapon called the Cradle, which is supposedly being prepared for a large-scale attack on the American people.
Although at first it seems that Case is just one man on a mission. However, that quickly changes when it is revealed that a mysterious Black Ops agent has a history with both Pantheon and the Cradle.
When Case infiltrates an American black site to get information about Cradle, he begins to hallucinate and pull back the curtain on where he came from and what he did before joining Woods and the others. in the CIA.
It turns out that Case is a nickname the character got because he was the “Case One” of the Cradle testing, which was attempted in order for his CIA handler, who became the game’s big bad, Jane Harrow, to hopefully create an American super soldier.
Long before the events of the game, Case was captured and used as a test subject in this Kentucky government facility. However, after the dangerous Cradle chemical was leaked, the entire project was shut down and its test subjects believed to be disposed of.
This all culminates when Harrow turns on the Black Ops team, revealing that he is a double agent working for Pantheon and providing CIA secrets to the organization from the inside.
In one final attack, where Pantheon sends everything it has at the Black Ops team in an attempt to free Harrow from its clutches, Case is forced into a climactic showdown with an ex-CIA director.
With the Black Ops team neutralized and Harrow seemingly free to escape, he jumps into a helicopter to leave and give the order to liberate the Cradle upon Washington DC.
However, his plans are foiled when Case climbs aboard his plane and brings the trip to a nearby lake.
In the last glimpses of Case players get, he knocks Harrow senseless after exposing him to a sample of Cradle gas, which seemingly activates the latent psychochemistry coursing through his veins.
Case continues to beat Harrow as the helicopter cabin fills with water as it sinks to its final resting place. Before either Harrow or Case dies, however, the camera cuts, and Case appears to have blacked out throughout the ordeal.
This is the last look the player gets at Case, and fans are left wondering if he is alive or dead.
Did Case die in Black Ops 6?
Case’s fate is left open Black Ops 6the story ends.
As the helicopter he was trapped in with Jane Harrow descends to the bottom of the lake it landed on and the screen fades to black, fans can still hear the voice of Black Ops agent Frank Marshall coming through Case’s comm device.
This could mean that he clings to life when the campaign cuts him off, possibly meaning that he somehow got out of his grave, which was almost certainly his watery grave.
While this is technically the last time Case will be properly seen in the campaign, some have speculated that the game’s final tease is actually confirmation that the character is still alive and now working for the Pantheon ( read more Black Ops 6the cycle ends here).
This final bundle for fans sees the story pick up several weeks after Case’s last scene, as the Black Ops team meets CIA Director Daniel Livingstone.
He tells Frank Woods and his fellow agents that their work is not done, as the Pantheon is still alive and still has agents hiding in the CIA. This is combined with footage of a mysterious man sitting at Livingstone’s computer going through his files.
Some have speculated that this could actually be Case, who is alive and well and, after being exposed to the Cradle in the final mission of the game, is now working for Pantheon as a mole in the CIA.
This has not been confirmed, and could instead simply be a tease of an upcoming post-launch season story set in the game’s multiplayer modes. But if it’s Case, this might not be the last fans have seen of the characters, and he might return as the big bad in a possible sequel somewhere down the line.
