Heinz and Paramount have teamed up to create a new pasta sauce inspired by a recipe in the classic mob movie The Godfather. The limited edition Heinz & The Godfather Pasta Sauce contains the ingredients described in the film by Peter Clemenza as he teaches Michael Corleone how to make the perfect pasta sauce.

You see, you start with some oil. Then you fry some garlic. Then you throw in some tomatoes, tomato paste, you fry it; make sure it doesn’t stick. You bring it to a boil; you tuck in all your sausage and your meatballs; huh? And some wine. A little bit of sugar.

Caio Fontenele, Heinz New Ventures Director, said: “Paramount Pictures’ The Godfather remains one of the greatest films in film history. And after seeing Clemenza teach Michael how to make his perfect pasta sauce, along with seeing a rising trend on social media where people replicate recipes from their favorite movies and TV shows at home, we knew it had to be Heinz to finally bring this iconic recipe to the nation.

Rebecca Jenkins, VP of consumer products for Paramount Global, said: “At Paramount, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to bring our beloved stories and characters to fans. Our collaboration with Heinz brings one of cinema’s most iconic meals from the big screen to dinner tables and we can’t wait for fans to experience Clemenza’s mouth-watering pasta sauce in real life!”

The new Heinz & The Godfather Pasta Sauce is available for five weeks at heinztohome.co.uk and Waitrose nationwide from February 28 and Ocado nationwide from March 1 at an RRP of £3.
