The funding, awarded from the Mayor of London, will help continue developing Haringey’s Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ), known as Made by Tottenham, and support its reaccreditation until 2029.

Haringey is one of nine London boroughs to receive a share of the £630,000 funding pot.

Creative Enterprise Zones are designed to nurture and invest in areas where creative talent and businesses can access affordable workspace, business support, and routes into employment through skills programmes.

Cllr Ruth Gordon, cabinet member for placemaking and local economy, said: “Haringey is a borough that brims with arts, culture and creativity, and London Borough of Culture 2027 is our opportunity to share our stories with the world.

“We’re proud to have been reaccredited as a Creative Enterprise Zone, and by connecting the CEZ with London Borough of Culture we can unlock even greater opportunities and synergies for our local creative industries.”

First designated a CEZ in 2018, Made by Tottenham has supported Haringey’s creative community through events, sponsorship, grants and an online directory featuring more than 450 creative professionals and businesses across various industries.

The programme will now be delivered by Haringey Culture Collective, the charity established by Haringey Council to lead preparations for the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2027.

The funding will support Made by Tottenham’s efforts to increase affordable workspace, help creative businesses grow and create secure jobs, and provide apprenticeships for residents, especially young people.

The creative sector accounts for nearly 20 per cent of all businesses in Haringey and provides one in five jobs. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of creative businesses in the borough grew by 18.5 per cent, with employment in the sector rising by 26 per cent.
