Some 94 per cent of pupils in the borough were offered a place at one of their top three preferred schools, compared to the London average of 90 per cent.
Of those, 77 per cent secured their first-choice option, ahead of the London average of 71.6 per cent.
The borough matched or outperformed neighbouring areas, with Barnet and Hackney both recording 73 per cent of families receiving their first choice, and Enfield matching Haringey’s 77 per cent. Islington was lower at 66 per cent.
Nearly 97 per cent of Haringey pupils were offered a place at one of their top six schools, compared to 94 per cent across London. Haringery Council leaders said the figures reflect strong performance from the borough’s education sector.
Cllr Zena Brabazon, Haringey’s cabinet member for children, schools and families, said: “These results are fantastic news for our young people and their families. We’re proud that Haringey continues to lead the way in helping children secure places at the schools they want, and it’s especially encouraging for us to be once again performing above the London average.
“Our education offer is exceptionally strong. Children’s Services have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, our Special Educational Needs services have achieved the highest possible Ofsted rating, and Haringey Learning Partnership – our alternative provision – is regarded as one of the best in the country.
“With around 99% of schools in the borough judged ‘good’ or ‘outstanding,’ families can be confident their children are accessing high‑quality education across Haringey. Starting secondary school is an exciting milestone, and I know our new Year 7 students will be warmly welcomed in September. We can’t wait to see them take this next step and thrive in our brilliant schools.”
Ann Graham, corporate director of children services at Haringey Council, said: “This is a real testament to the dedication and enthusiasm our teachers and school staff bring to delivering an outstanding education for our young people in the borough. These figures underline Haringey’s strong position in providing high-quality, accessible school places and reflect the continued confidence local families have in the borough’s secondary schools.
“Our children deserve nothing less than the highest standards, and we remain committed to ensuring every young person in Haringey receives the support, guidance and quality provision they need to flourish.”
