For a quarter of a century, Gorillaz have defied convention, blending music, animation, and storytelling into a genre-defying phenomenon that has captivated millions worldwide. Now, as the band marks 25 years since their groundbreaking debut, they’re inviting fans to step inside their creative sanctuary with House of Kong – an immersive exhibition in London that promises to be as bold and boundary-pushing as the band itself.

When Gorillaz burst onto the scene in 2000, they weren’t just another band – they were sort of a multimedia revolution. Conceived by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz introduced a virtual lineup of animated characters: the enigmatic 2D, the mischievous Murdoc Niccals, the mysterious Noodleand the stoic Russel Hobbs. This innovative concept blurred the lines between reality and fiction, music and visual art, creating a new way for audiences to experience a band.

The House of Kong exhibitionopening August 8 at London’s Copper Box Arenaoffers fans a rare glimpse behind the curtain. Named after the band’s legendary studio and creative hub, Kong has been the birthplace of much of Gorillaz’s music and visual art. This exhibition transforms the space into an interactive playground where visitors can explore the band’s history, influences, and the intricate world-building that defines their work.

From early sketches and storyboards to cutting-edge digital installations, House of Kong is designed to immerse visitors in the chaotic, vibrant energy that fuels Gorillaz. Fans will encounter the band’s animated personas brought to life through multimedia displays, experience the evolution of their sound, and discover the stories behind iconic tracks like “Tomorrow Comes Today” and “Feel Good Inc.”

Adding to the excitement, Gorillaz will perform four intimate live shows at the Copper Box Arena on August 29, 30, and September 2, 3. These concerts mark the band’s first live appearances since their acclaimed 2023 Coachella set, offering fans a rare chance to experience the magic of Gorillaz in a more personal setting.

The live shows promise to blend the band’s signature multimedia spectacle with new material, creating an unforgettable fusion of sound and visuals. For those attending the exhibition, exclusive presale access to these concerts makes the experience even more special – a true celebration of 25 years of innovation.

While fans revel in the past, Gorillaz are also looking to the future. Damon Albarn has confirmed that a new Gorillaz album is in the works, slated for release later this year.

Tickets for the House of Kong exhibition and the exclusive live shows at Copper Box London are available now.
