The Golden Bachelor star Joan Vassos revealed the heartbreaking reason why Chock Chapple’s breakup when her mother died felt like déjà vu when she was Gerry Turner’s rival. The Golden Bachelor season. When Joan appeared on Gerry’s season, they had just started to form a strong connection when she had to return home to help her daughter with postnatal depression. In his time The Golden Bachelor season, Joan temporarily said goodbye to Chock, who returned home because his mother had died of cancer.

In an interview with Extra TVBilly Bush shared via Instagram when asked about Chock’s split, Joan said: “It was like déjà vu.” He explained, “I was really sad because that’s exactly the kind of person I was on the Golden Bachelor season, and I knew I had planned as I hoped to return. I didn’t really plan for it, but I thought, ‘There’s a world where I can get everything right at home and then come back and this is not going to end,’ and it literally never happened.”

However, Joan stated that Chock had promised him that he would come backhe thought “‘You don’t know what’s going on at home. You don’t know you’ll be able to come back. You don’t know how much they need you.'”

Joan said that when Chock returned, he was “surprised” and “so excitedfor the longer he was gone–remember, he was only gone two days–I had less and less hope of his return. I talked myself out of it. I was like, ‘He’s not coming. He is not coming. I don’t know how to do this.‘ Billy told Joan that he lit up when Chock returned. He replied, “I know. I was very happy.”

I was really sad because I had just been that person on the Golden Bachelor season and I knew I had planned as I hoped I would come back. I didn’t really plan on it, but I thought, “There’s a world where I could get everything right at home and then come back and this will never end,” and it literally never happened. So when he came back… I was surprised and so excited because the longer he was gone — remember, he was only gone for two days — I had less and less hope for his future. back. I talked myself out of it. I was like, ‘He’s not coming. He is not coming. I don’t know how to do this.’

What Chock Leaving & Coming Back means to Joan Vassos

Joan & Chock are closer than ever

Joan and Chock faced a similar situation when they both had to leave their respective seasons to help their families. However, Joan painfully did not return to Gerry, while Chock returned to Joan. This has brought them closer than everas evidenced by the fact that Chock and Joan did not leave each other’s sides during the bowling group meeting the following week.

When Chock got the call that her mother had died, Joan was dealing with a family emergency of her own as her 92-year-old mother had fallen ill, and she felt that maybe she should go home to be with her. Fortunately, Joan’s mother eventually recovered, but that was it another situation where Joan and Chock could be fully connected.

Also, in Week 1, Joan and Chock had a magical one-on-one date at Disneyland during which he told her about the loss of his fiancee, Kathy, to brain cancer. Joan could totally relate to him as she lost her husband John of 32 years to pancreatic cancer in 2021. Joan and Chock have a lot in common so they understand each other on a level she doesn’t share with other men–Jordan Heller, Guy Gansert and Pascal Ibgui.

We draw parallels between Chock’s and Joan’s departures

Joan & Chock both precious family

Joan and Chock both put their families before everything elseincluding their own journeys to find love. Although their experiences ended differently because Joan couldn’t return and Chock did, the feelings they had during these family situations were the same. Also, Joan felt like she was reliving what had happened with her and Gerry when there was a possibility that Chock wouldn’t come back to her. Once again he would have been left with what ifs and could haves, like Chock being the one to get away.

It seems that Chock’s departure and return has made Joan realize how strong her feelings are for him. When he said he didn’t know how he was going to move on if she didn’t come back, he showed that he has perhaps the deepest connection with her. Chock is definitely all-in for Joan when she comes back saying she’s crazy about him. When Joan moves on with him The Golden Bachelor on the way, and he visits Chock’s hometown, hopefully their relationship continues to grow and they live happily ever after.
