Former DCN chair blames LGR for council’s debt write-off plan

A former District Councils’ Network chair has blamed local government reorganisation (LGR) for his council’s proposal to write off nearly £500,000 of debt to its own property company.

Sam Chapman-Allen, leader of Breckland DC, told fellow councillors the decision had been ‘imposed on us by this Government around LGR and we have legal challenges that we’ve got to undertake’.
