Spring marks the beginning of camping season here in the UK with many campsites up and down the country opening for 2026 this month.

From tranquil parkland to working farms and family-friendly rural escapes, we’ve rounded up the top campsites near North London on Pitchup.com and what campers had to say about them.

Aldenham Country Park

Aldenham Country Park is a countryside haven with a urban-twist.

Campers scored it 8.3 out of 10, praising the spacious pitches, welcoming staff, and family-friendly activities.

Set on 175 acres of parkland, the site features a lake, woodland trails, and areas where children can spot animals and search for Winnie the Pooh in the 100 Aker Wood.

Facilities include a café, playgrounds, barbecue hire, toilets, showers, and disabled access.

Pitches cater to tents, campervans, and trailer tents on non-electric grass plots.

Nearby, visitors can visit popular attractions like the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, enjoy Ruislip Lido, or take in Wembley Stadium.

Heritage fans can visit the Royal Air Force Museum or historic houses such as Fenton House and Osterley Park.

Fuzzy’s Farm

20 minutes from Watford, Fuzzy’s Farm offers a playful Wild West experience.

Scoring a 10 from campers, it’s loved for its friendly owner, family-friendly atmosphere, and resident alpacas and sheep.

Accommodation comes in themed wooden bunkhouses with heating, lighting, and cooking facilities and the site is located close to Hemel Hempstead.

Campers can take walks in the surrounding countryside or visit local attractions like ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Ashridge Estate, and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour.

Penn Meadow Farm

Set in the Chiltern Hills National Landscape, Penn Meadow Farm scored 8.9 from campers for its relaxed atmosphere, scenic views, and animal encounters. Families and dog owners are welcome on the non-electric grass pitches, with opportunities to meet pigs, sheep, and alpacas.

History buffs can visit Hughenden Manor, Chiltern Open Air Museum, and the Stanley Spencer Gallery.

Theobalds Park

30 minutes from Watford, Theobalds Park offers a countryside stay with easy London access.

The site is close to Junction 25 of the M25 and Waltham Cross, making trips into London simple.

New Green End Farm

Just under 30 minutes from Watford, New Green End Farm scored a 8.9 rating rom campers for its tranquil, spacious pitches and friendly hosts.

Set on a working farm in the Chiltern Hills, it offers non-electric grass pitches, bell tents, and electric motorhome plots.

Visitors can meet alpacas and sheep, have a barbecue, and explore the surrounding woodland and fields around the campsite.

The campsite is within close distance to Whipsnade Zoo being just 5 minutes away by car and nearby Dunstable Downs providing scenic walking trails.
