Most fans of horror movies won’t mind what time of the month it is, sticking on a gory or chilling picture on without a moment of hesitation even during summer when the world seems at ease. But even the most died-in-the-wool horror fanatic will admit that there’s something elevating about the experience when pressing play in October; particularly when that calendar trickles further towards the 31st.
And when Frightfest has already put on their successful August showing in the capital, dedicating an entire festival to horror films, of course they’re going to return for a Halloween edition. It’s shorter, but you’ll be able to cram in nine spooky movies across two days and it’ll truly help compound that spooky spirit.
Frightfest Halloween
Now, even though this is a spin-off to their main event, you can still bank on two days of chilling action at Frightfest at Odeon Luxe West End on November 1-2. Nine new films will each be screened twice, with proceedings kicking off at 6pm on the Friday, and running all day on the Saturday for a full weekend of horror from the minute you close your laptop after work.
Opening the festival at 6pm on November 1 is Make a piewhich stars Daisy Ridley is a neo-noir psychological thriller centering around a married couple. the little ones follows it, showing three brothers a post-apocalyptic world that has been compared to Lord Of The Flies with zombies; before Advent gives us a film with a cursed advent calendar. Obviously.
Also on the lineup are: a creepy zombie number The Bitter Taste; extra-terrestrial tales in Alien Country; sci-fi horror The Draft!; comedy-fantasy in Time Travel Is Dangerous; neo-noir detective thriller Catch A Killer; and transformation mystery horror animated.
